Volkswagen Australia is confirming prices and specs for the new Tiguan and Tayron eHybrid (PHEV) options, offering up to 200kW of power and over 100km of electric range.
Both are presented in two-variant form, including 150TSI Elegance and 200TSI R-Line. All offer AC charging at up to 11kW and DC charging at up to 40kW, with a 19.7kWh battery on board providing an electric range between 113-117km (WLTP).

Going for the 150TSI Elegance gets you a total system output of 150kW, partly thanks to a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The R-Line produces an impressive 200kW, also assisted by a 1.5 turbo engine. Acceleration times across 0-100km/h are around 7.2 and 7.3 seconds for the 200kW R-Line Tiguan and Tayron, respectively.
The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s main medium-size SUV while the Tayron is a bit larger, essentially replacing the old Tiguan Allspace. It offers 705L of boot space compared with the Tiguan’s 652L – the Tayron is around 230mm longer overall, with 114mm in the wheelbase. Speaking about the new models, Arjun Nidigallu, head of product at Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, said:
“Introducing the Tiguan eHybrid and Tayron eHybrid is a milestone for Volkswagen in Australia. These SUVs bring meaningful electric range, fast and flexible charging and the everyday usability our customers expect. This is how we make electrification practical and desirable for Australian families and it’s a clear step toward our future lineup.”

Going for the 200TSI R-Line doesn’t just get you more power, it also showcases a number of sporty enhancements and unique trimmings, such as 20-inch alloy wheels, hip-hugging seats in the front, bespoke highlights and badges, and a 10-speaker sound system with sub-woofer.
