Yet another new Chinese car brand is hitting Australia soon, as Denza reveals specs of its first vehicles – the B5 and B8 SUVs – ahead of their local arrival later this year.
Developed under BYD, Denza is positioning itself as a premium sub-brand, with both new models built on BYD’s advanced DM-O (Dual Mode Offroad) hybrid platform. The pairing blends plug-in hybrid efficiency with genuine 4WD capability.

The smaller of the two, the Denza B5, will be available in standard and Leopard trims, both featuring a potent dual-motor hybrid system producing 425kW and 760Nm. Power comes from a 31.8kWh Blade Battery, offering up to 90km of electric range (WLTP) and supporting DC fast charging at up to 100kW. The more rugged Leopard variant adds DiSus-P hydraulic adaptive suspension, front and rear locking differentials, and a 3000kg towing capacity.
Inside, the B5 offers a five-seat layout with up to 1064 litres of boot space. Highlights include Nappa leather trim, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and 11 airbags as part of a comprehensive safety suite.

Sitting at the top of the range, the flagship Denza B8 will arrive in both six- and seven-seat configurations, powered by a 450kW/760Nm plug-in hybrid system with dual-motor 4WD. It also features the brand’s Blade Battery (31.8kWh) and supports up to 120kW DC fast charging. With a 91-litre fuel tank and a 3500kg towing capacity, the B8 is designed for long-distance touring and off-road exploration.
Luxury is front and centre inside the B8, with soft-closing doors, massaging and ventilated Nappa leather seats, an 18-speaker Devialet audio system, and even a built-in cooler/hotbox. The six-seat variant adds captain’s chairs in the second row. Denza COO Mark Harland said:
“With the B5 and B8, Denza is taking a swing at the establishment. They’re purpose-built, premium SUVs that offer something the market hasn’t seen before – combining cutting-edge tech, serious off-road capability, and luxury that doesn’t ask you to compromise.”
Expressions of interest for the B5 and B8 are now open, with deliveries expected to begin in early December, 2025.
