2026 Denza B5 & B8 price confirmed for Australia, starts from $74,990

Following the initial confirmation of these new off-road SUVs last month, the local division, under BYD, has just confirmed the starting prices for the Denza B5 and B8.

Two variants of the B5 are hitting the market, including the regular and the Leopard. Both feature a twin-motor plug-in hybrid system producing a combined 400kW and 760Nm. Denza claims 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds. Electric energy is provided by a 31.8kWh battery promising a range of 90km (WLTC), with up to 100kW DC charging capability.

Going for the Leopard trim adds DiSus-P hydraulic suspension with 140mm of travel, opening up the approach angle to 39 degrees and the departure to 35 degrees, with a maximum ground clearance of 310mm. The standard B5 offers 220mm.

The Leopard also comes with Pirelli tyres instead of Continentals, measuring 275/55 on a 20-inch rim compared with 265/65 on an 18-inch rim on the regular B5. It adds proper Nappa leather inside, a digital rear-view mirror, and comes with two 50W wireless phone chargers instead of one, and ventilated rear seats.

As for the Denza B8, it is being presented in two trim levels as well; the 7S and 6S. Both feature a similar plug-in hybrid system as the B5, only power is turned up to 425kW. Acceleration across 0-100km/h is the same, at 4.8 seconds, claimed.

The main difference is the B8 offers three rows of seats, with 7 seats in the standard and 6 seats on the 6S. It offers DC charging at up to 120kW, with a slightly bigger 36.8kWh battery providing an electric range of 100km. It also offers a braked towing capacity of 3500kg, up from 3000kg in the B5.
