Volvo ES90 confirmed for Australia, priced from $88,880

Volvo has confirmed the all-new ES90 fully electric sedan is coming to Australia in two variants, with prices and specs confirmed this week.

Slotting in as the brand’s latest flagship alongside the EX90, the ES90 is pitched as a premium EV without compromise, combining Scandinavian design with the brand’s latest safety tech and the practicality of a fastback.

It’s built on Volvo’s new SPA2 architecture and Superset tech stack, debuting the company’s 800-volt electric system that enables faster charging and improved efficiency. At 350kW, it can charge up to 300km of range in just 10 minutes, while the overall driving range is 554km (WLTP).

Aerodynamics play a major role too, with a drag coefficient of just 0.25 – the lowest yet for a Volvo – helping extend efficiency and provide that sleek sedan profile.

A slightly raised ride height offers better visibility, while the flowing roofline contributes to both style and spaciousness, Volvo says. Trademark ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights and distinctive C-shaped taillights help pair it with Volvo’s latest theme.

A powered tailgate opens to reveal up to 733 litres of cargo capacity with the seats folded. A 22-litre front compartment provides additional storage for the charging cables and whatnot.

Inside, the ES90 emphasises comfort and refinement, offering a long 3.1-metre wheelbase for excellent rear legroom. Premium materials, six ambient lighting themes, and a panoramic electrochromic roof enhance the cabin’s feel.

Air quality is bolstered by a four-zone climate control system with advanced filtration capable of blocking 95 per cent of fine particles and nearly all common allergens. Noise levels are claimed to be among the lowest in any Volvo to date, making the Bowers & Wilkins 25-speaker audio system in the Ultra model even more immersive, with Dolby Atmos and a special Abbey Road Studios tuning mode.

The infotainment package runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit platform with built-in Google services, displayed on a 14.5-inch centre screen and a 9-inch driver display, complemented by a head-up display. A 3D camera system aids manoeuvring in tight spaces.

In keeping with Volvo tradition, safety is central to the ES90’s design. It features lidar, radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors supporting advanced driver-assist features, as well as in-cabin occupant detection to help prevent children or pets from being left behind.

Two variants are going on sale in Australia; the ES90 Plus Single Motor and the ES90 Ultra Single Motor. Both come with four-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, digital key access and the advanced safety systems. Both are powered by a 245kW/480Nm rear-mounted electric motor.

The order books are open now. Prices start from the following (excluding on-road costs):

2026 Volvo ES90 Plus Single Motor: $88,880
2026 Volvo ES90 Ultra Single Motor: $107,990
