2027 Volkswagen T-Roc confirmed for Australia

Volkswagen Australia has confirmed the all-new, second-generation T-Roc will arrive in local showrooms in early 2027, introducing mild-hybrid technology, a redesigned interior and improved practicality.

The new model represents a major overhaul for the compact SUV, bringing updated styling, more advanced technology and increased interior space. One of the biggest changes is the introduction of mild-hybrid powertrains, marking the first time the technology has been offered in an Australian-market T-Roc.

Although local engine specifications are yet to be confirmed, the mild-hybrid system is designed to reduce fuel consumption by providing electrical assistance for the petrol engine. Overseas specs have a 2.0 eTSI 4MOTION producing 150kW, as well as two 1.5 eTSI units developing 85kW and 110kW.

Inside, the cabin receives upgraded materials, improved comfort and a new infotainment system, alongside VW’s latest digital instrument setup. Interior space has also increased compared with the outgoing model, promising improved practicality for passengers and luggage.

Safety technology has been upgraded with an expanded range of driver assistance systems, including the latest version of Volkswagen’s Travel Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane guidance. Piergiorgio Minto, brand director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles, said:

“The all-new generation builds on the qualities that have made the T-Roc such a success in Australia, while delivering meaningful advances in design, technology, comfort, safety and efficiency. We’re delighted to confirm the all-new T-Roc for Australia and look forward to sharing more details with customers and media closer to launch.”

The T-Roc competes in Australia’s small SUV segment against models such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30 and Hyundai Kona. The introduction of mild-hybrid technology will help Volkswagen compete with the growing number of electrified alternatives in this class.

Australian pricing, engine specifications and variant details are yet to be announced, including whether the performance-focused T-Roc R will return. The new model is scheduled to arrive during the first quarter of 2027.
