The first fully electric Range Rover has been revealed and is now available to order in Australia, offering up to 405kW of power.
Underneath is a dual-motor electric powertrain producing 405kW and 850Nm, with a 260kW permanent-magnet motor positioned at each axle. Despite the considerable size and weight expected of the SUV, Range Rover claims 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds, while 80-120km/h takes 2.7 seconds.

Energy comes from a sizeable 118.5kWh lithium-ion battery operating on an 800-volt electrical architecture. Range is rated at up to 600km under the NEDC test cycle, although Range Rover also quotes a more useful real-world estimate of up to 535km.
Charging performance is particularly impressive on paper. Connected to a powerful 350kW DC charger, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes. Range Rover says approximately 220km of driving range can be added in 10 minutes under ideal conditions.

Rather than creating a separate EV platform, Range Rover has integrated the electric drivetrain into the same basic architecture used for its petrol, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. This is because this ‘MLA’ platform was originally designed to accommodate both ICE and electrified setups when it was first launched in 2021.
That means the EV hasn’t abandoned the off-road hardware expected of a Range Rover. Its new traction management system can adjust motor speed within 50 milliseconds, while the rear torque distribution can vary from 100 per cent to zero depending on available grip.
It can also wade through water up to 900mm deep, while a new single-pedal off-road mode is designed to provide more precise low-speed control. Range Rover says it can pull away on a 33-degree incline and perform a rolling climb on slopes of up to 45 degrees.

Air suspension is retained, while placing the large battery beneath the vehicle lowers the centre of gravity compared with combustion-powered versions.
Range Rover has otherwise resisted making the EV look dramatically different. Changes include an aerodynamically optimised grille, different wheels and underbody revisions, but it remains immediately recognisable as the current-generation Range Rover.

The electric drivetrain is covered by an eight-year/160,000km warranty, while Australian buyers also receive a one-year Chargefox subscription limited to 500kWh of charging. See below for the starting prices for Australia (excluding on-road costs):
