Mahindra has utilised its global social media channels to tease the impending arrival of its next-generation dual-cab ute. Previewed via a recent Instagram reel, the all-new dual-cab is slated to replace the brand’s long-serving Pik-Up.
Engineered as a global product – even the tagline at the end of the preview says ‘Born for a bigger world’ – the upcoming model represents a strategic shift for the Indian manufacturer as it transitions from producing utilitarian farm vehicles to targeting the mainstream lifestyle segment.

The larger ute will tackle established class leaders like the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux, alongside aggressively priced challengers such as the GWM Cannon Alpha and the forthcoming Chery Stockman.
Underpinning the new vehicle is a stretched version of the Z101 ladder-frame chassis currently utilised by the Scorpio SUV. Crucially for the Australian market, Mahindra has confirmed the new ute is being engineered to achieve a 3500kg maximum braked towing capacity and a 1000kg payload. This represents a significant capability upgrade over Mahindra’s current Australian ute offering, the aging Pik-Up, which is restricted to a modest 2500kg braked towing limit.

Propulsion is set to be provided by a heavily revised iteration of the manufacturer’s ‘mHawk’ turbo-diesel engine family. To ensure the powertrain and thermal management systems can withstand the targeted 3500kg towing threshold, Mahindra has subjected the vehicle to an extensive local validation program. Prototypes have completed rigorous hot-weather and towing evaluations across the Australian outback, reflecting the manufacturer’s acknowledgement that local buyers demand distinct lifestyle and touring capabilities not required in the Indian domestic market.
While Mahindra has maintained a continuous commercial presence in Australia since 2007 with the current Pik-Up, that model has traditionally appealed strictly to rural buyers seeking a budget-friendly, bare-bones workhorse. The upcoming global ute marks a comprehensive upmarket push, introducing modern interior packaging, advanced driver assistance systems, and contemporary styling.

The full reveal will take place on August 14, and it’s set to make its formal Australian debut in late 2026, where it will leverage Mahindra’s established value-pricing strategy to disrupt the competitive 4×4 dual-cab segment.
