XPeng has announced pricing and specifications for its flagship X9 electric people-mover for Australia, with orders now open ahead of local deliveries commencing very soon.
The seven-seat MPV will be offered in two variants, including the front-wheel drive Standard Range and all-wheel drive Performance. This is XPeng’s first three-row model to launch locally and is built on the company’s 800-volt electrical platform. Both variants support 5C DC fast charging, with the flagship AWD Performance capable of accepting up to 542kW under test conditions (although such chargers do not exist in Australia). XPeng claims a 10-80 per cent recharge can be completed in as little as 12 minutes.
Going for the Standard Range gets you a 94.8kWh battery that offers up to 535km of driving range on the WLTP cycle, while the AWD Performance upgrades to a 110kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 580km. The dual-motor flagship produces up to 370kW and 640Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds.
Unlike most large people-movers, the X9 comes standard with active rear-wheel steering and dual-chamber air suspension, promising decent agility for its size and comfortable touring. XPeng says the combination helps improve low-speed manoeuvrability while maintaining stability at highway speeds.
Inside, the flat-floor cabin is configured with three rows of seating, including powered ‘Zero Gravity’ second-row seats featuring heating, ventilation and massage functions. Boot capacity is rated at 721 litres with all seven seats in place, expanding to 2554 litres with the rear rows folded.
Technology highlights include a 17.3-inch central touch-screen, 21-inch head-up display, 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, 27-speaker XOPERA audio system, heated and cooled refrigerator, dual wireless phone chargers and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The X9 also becomes the first XPeng model in Australia to feature the company’s in-house Turing AI chip, which underpins the infotainment system, voice assistant and the latest XPILOT driver assistance technologies.
Private buyers are covered by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, while the high-voltage battery and electric drive components are backed for eight years or 160,000km. The XPeng X9 is available to order now, with customer deliveries set to begin shortly. See below for the starting prices (excluding on-road costs):
