Cupra is expanding its Leon lineup in Australia with the arrival of the new Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD, bringing a high-performance wagon back into the local market with 245kW, all-wheel drive and an attractive starting price..
Scheduled to arrive in Australia from September, with orders opening later in June, the new flagship wagon joins the updated Leon range introduced last year. It also becomes the only Leon variant available locally with all-wheel drive, sitting alongside the existing Leon VZe plug-in hybrid Sportstourer and the FWD Leon VZx hot hatch.

Power comes from the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine recently introduced in the latest Formentor VZx, producing 245kW. Matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system featuring rear torque vectoring, the wagon is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.8 seconds. The powertrain also includes a dedicated drift mode designed to maximise driver engagement.
Standard equipment is extensive, with forged 19-inch alloy wheels, cross-drilled front brakes, Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive suspension, heated front seats with memory, leather-appointed trim, a power tailgate and a Sennheiser premium sound system all included.
Customers wanting additional performance hardware can opt for the Extreme Package, which adds Akebono six-piston front brakes, carbon-backed CUP bucket seats trimmed in Enceladus Grey Seaqual and Dinamica upholstery, Matrix Ultra LED headlights and dark exterior styling accents.

Despite its performance focus, Cupra says the Sportstourer continues to offer the practicality expected from a wagon, combining five-seat accommodation with generous luggage space for everyday family duties or longer road trips. Cupra Australia head of product Jeff Shafer said:
“Performance wagons have always inspired passionate enthusiasts because they offer something genuinely unique – the practicality and versatility people need, combined with the driving experience they truly want. The Leon VZx Sportstourer is unapologetically built for those customers.”
