Hyundai IONIQ 3 officially revealed, N Line pack confirmed

Following yesterdays’ leak, the Hyundai IONIQ 3 has now been officially unveiled. This is Hyundai’s new entry EV, based on the 400V E-GMP architecture. It has been confirmed for Australia.

The new model is being presented in two battery sizes; 42.2kWh and 61kWh. These offer a range 344km for the Standard range and 496km for the Extended range, on the WLTP cycle.

Both use a front-mounted electric motor (FWD), with the Standard range producing 107.8kW and the Extended range developing 99.5kW. Both produce 250Nm. Acceleration across 0-100km/h takes a claimed 9.0 and 9.6 seconds, respectively.

Adopting the latest 400V E-GMP architecture means DC fast-charging can take the battery from 10-80 per cent in around 29 minutes. Interestingly, buyers will also have the option to upgrade to 22kW AC three-phase charging, which is still quite unique in the EV market.

As for the design, well, as we saw yesterday, the IONIQ 3 goes for an angular, sporty stance with a high rear end and pointed and focused nose. This brings the best of both worlds in terms of sporty looks with practicality inside. It’s also very slippery, with a drag coefficient of just 0.263.

Hyundai will also be offering an N Line trim level, adding various cosmetic enhancements, including a rear spoiler, up to 19-inch alloy wheels, and lots of dark highlights, such as lower skirting, side mirrors and window surrounds.

Taking a look inside, the dashboard is dominated by a new media interface and layout theme, with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) running software on either a 12.9- or 14.6-inch touch-screen. However, it’s good to see physical controls remain for the climate settings and a volume knob. There’s also a separate gauge panel for the driver.

Up at the back, rear passenger room looks impressive, partly thanks to a completely flat floor, with twin climate vents and twin charging ports. Boot space is rated at 441L, with 322L in the main boot and a 119L ‘Megabox’ underneath.

From launch, the Hyundai IONIQ 3 will be offered in eight colours; Atlas White Solid, Aurora Gray Pearl, Fierce Red Solid, Fierce Red Matte (pictured), Ice Blue Pearl, Lumen Gray Pearl, Phantom Black Pearl, and Vibrant Blue Pearl.

Hyundai Australia has confirmed the new model is scheduled to arrive in local showrooms early in 2027. Final Australian specs and features are yet to be confirmed.
