2026 MINI Cooper 1965 Victory Edition confirmed for Australia

Want a hot hatch that is a bit special with more individuality than a standard build? Have a gander at this.

MINI is celebrating 60 years since its 1965 Monte Carlo Rally win with a limited-run 1965 Victory Edition, limited to 30 examples for Australia and due to arrive in showrooms in Q2, 2026.

The allocation is split between 20 petrol MINI John Cooper Works hatches and 10 MINI John Cooper Works Electric models, tying the special edition to the brand’s performance lineup in both combustion and EV form.

Power for the petrol JCW comes from the 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo four-cylinder producing 170kW and 380Nm, and MINI quotes a 0–100km/h time of 6.1 seconds. The JCW Electric is rated at up to 190kW, with a claimed 0–100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.

As a nod to the 1965-winning MINI Cooper S driven by Timo Mäkinen with co-driver Paul Easter, all Australian cars will be finished in Chili Red with a white bonnet stripe that continues across the roof and rear. A white ’52’ side graphic references the original rally car’s number, while a small ‘1965’ badge sits on the C-pillar.

The edition also brings wheel detail; the petrol JCW wears 18-inch JCW Lap Spoke two-tone alloys, while the electric model switches to black 18-inch JCW Mastery Spoke wheels. Floating hub caps and edition valve caps are fitted, while an optional panoramic glass roof is offered.

Inside, the standard JCW red-and-black theme is retained, but with illuminated ‘1965’ door sills, a dedication plaque, ‘1965’ detailing on the steering wheel, commemorative centre console lettering and a key cap carrying the historic race number.

MINI says the timing follows 2025 local JCW sales, with performance variants accounting for 21 per cent of MINI Australia deliveries, while electrified models represent 31 per cent. Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch.
