2025 MINI John Cooper Works 3-door confirmed for Australia

MINI Australia has confirmed the price and specs for the 2025 John Cooper Works 3-door hatch, which will arrive in showrooms during the second quarter of next year.

Offering a mix of racing heritage and modern technology, the new model comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine producing 170kW and 380Nm. This is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch auto with front-wheel drive.

Across the standard 0-100km/h sprint, the clock stops in a claimed 6.1 seconds, making it one of the quickest petrol front-wheel drive hatchbacks on the market. However, that power output is unchanged from the outgoing model, which might be seen by some as a lack of evolution, especially if it is heavier.

Two trim levels are arriving in Australia, including the Classic and the Favoured. Going for the Classic brings in plenty of standard features, such as a panoramic glass roof, augmented reality sat-nav, adaptive suspension, and the full John Cooper Works interior treatment.

Stepping up to the Favoured adds performance tyres, powered front seats, and tinted windows. There’s also active seat functions for the driver. Not all that much, really. But it is priced only $3000 north of the Classic.

In terms of the latest design, a bold octagonal grille in high-gloss black makes a statement at the front, while functional air inlets with vertical red reflectors enhance both aerodynamics and cooling. There’s also JCW-specific LED headlights, dual central exhaust outlets, and customisable bonnet stripes in either black or red.

For technology, the MINI JCW is fitted with an upgraded MINI Navigation system that uses Augmented View to provide real-time updates on traffic and parking availability, and it comes with surround-view cameras, steering assistance and lane-keeping support at higher speeds.

The new model is scheduled to arrive in Q2 next year, as mentioned, with prices starting from the following (excluding on-road costs). See further below for feature highlights:

2025 MINI John Cooper Works Classic 3-door: $57,990
2025 MINI John Cooper Works Favoured 3-door: $60,990
