The mid-size SUV segment is about to welcome an updated contender, in the form of the 2026 Nissan X-Trail. It brings in light styling updates, wider-spanning technology, and revised servicing schedules.
Four main trim lines are going on sale, including the ST, ST-L, Ti, Ti-L, and three of these are available with Nissan’s e-Power hybrid tech; the ST-L and Ti-L. There are also 2WD (FWD) and AWD options for the ST and ST-L, and five- and seven-seat options continue.
Firstly, the exterior design has been refreshed somewhat, with a new front grille and bumper bar, and updated LED lighting. There’s also new 18- and 19-inch wheels, and two new paint colours called Deep Ocean Blue and Everest White.
Inside, the dash and door trims move from brown to black, and the steering wheel gets real leather for the ST-L, with 10-way power adjustment for the front in ST-L and above. All now feature the 12.3-inch touch-screen (mainly a jump up for the ST). As you can tell, the ST-L gets the brunt of the updates here, at least inside.
Technology across the board has been improved, with Nissan’s Connected Car Services standard across the board. This brings in functions such as remote vehicle monitoring and the ability to activate certain controls from your smartphone.
For ST-L grades and above, a surround-view camera system comes as standard, including a new Skeleton Hood view to make it easier to see objects from ground level. The system offers multi-view options as well, handy for pulling out from side streets with low visibility.
Lastly, the servicing schedule is now extended to every 15,000km or 12 months, whichever occurs first, instead of 10,000km/12 months. Essentially this means less time – and potentially money – spent on servicing.
