2026 Hyundai Elexio confirmed for Australia, price from $59,990

There’s a new electric SUV on the horizon, in the form of the 2026 Hyundai Elexio. Prices and specs have just been confirmed for Australia.

Just a single trim line is being launched, the Elite. It features a single electric motor system at the front axle (FWD), with an 88kWh battery providing the energy and a range of 546km (WLTP).

2026 Hyundai Elexio - rear

Like many EVs in the SUV space at the moment, the Elexio produces 160kW and 310Nm. Hyundai hasn’t mentioned any 0-100km/h claims, but we’d predict around 8-9 seconds, given this is a little bit bigger than others featuring the same outputs.

The new model uses the E-GMP architecture but with a 400V electrical system as opposed to 800V offered in other E-GMP-based vehicles. Even so, Hyundai claims charging from 10-80 per cent only takes 38 minutes using a fast charger (350kW, DC).

It also features an Australian ride and handling tune, with local and overseas engineers carrying out testing on local soil (as spotted in 2025) to ensure it lives up to our conditions. A variety of different suspension parts were tested to pinpoint the right combination.

2026 Hyundai Elexio - interior

Since the Elexio is positioned between the Kona Electric and the IONIQ 5, you can begin to imagine the sort of interior space and packaging. However, the interior is decorated in a futuristic theme, and it debuts Hyundai’s new Connect-C infotainment suite.

The new touch-screen system is based on the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS), with a 27-inch 4K display running across the dash. It also comes with head-up display but no instrument cluster. And then up at the back you have 506L of boot space, expanding to 1540L with the rear seats folded.

Standard highlight features include four-zone climate control, a six-speaker sound system, V2L charging, at least five USB-C ports, heated and cooling front seats with power adjustment, and a comprehensive package of safety systems. Hyundai Australia COO, Gavin Donaldson, said:

“Elexio will offer an ideal blend of size, space, efficiency and value-for-money when it arrives early next year. We look forward to welcoming more Australians to the Hyundai SUV family, while continuing Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to electrification and intelligent mobility solutions.”

The new model will launch early this year. Prices start from $59,990 drive-away as an introductory offer, for both private and fleet buyers.
