Is this the 2027 Renault Clio? Could get Alpine trim line

Following a trend of pre-reveal leaks, pictures potentially showing the sixth generation Renault Clio have emerged online, suggesting an all-new hybrid only setup.

Judging by these images (we can’t confirm if they are official or not), the body appears sleeker, with a more rounded shape, while retaining the concealed rear door handle of the current car. Additionally, new light housing elements evoke eyes, with a deeply sculpted grille and aggressive LEDs at the outer edges.

Powertrain details are not readily available, but it is said to be hybrid-only this time around – as evidenced by the ‘E-Tech Hybrid’ badging. For reference, the current Clio E-Tech makes 105kW and 148Nm and sips as little as 3.6L/100km. Revisions are expected, but in its current form it meets EU emissions requirements for 2026.

Unfortunately, a proper Renault Sport model is unlikely, since the French manufacturer’s sporting division seems to have diverted all of its attention to electric vehicles.

A new version of the firm’s CMF-B platform will purportedly underpin the new car, with upgraded ADAS, safety and connectivity.

Australia hasn’t seen a new Clio since 2020 due to rapidly contracting B-segment (Light Car) sales. This reveal will still be relevant to us, since the Captur and Arkana share much with the Clio.

We’ll know all of the official details later today from the full reveal, taking place in Munich at 5:30pm (about 1:30am AEST).
