Peugeot Australia is introducing its latest family-focused SUV, the 2025 5008 Hybrid, bringing European flair, hybrid efficiency and seating for seven to local showrooms.
The new 5008 Hybrid features a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain, using a compact 15.6kW electric motor. Together, they generate a combined 107kW, making it one of the least-powerful seven-seat SUVs on the market.
Interestingly, the system is matched to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, not a CVT (fortunately). Fuel economy is decent but not that impressive considering its weak power, with an official average consumption of 5.1L/100km. Although, that is great compared with most seven-seaters.
Inside, Peugeot’s latest Panoramic i-Cockpit takes centre stage. This includes a curved 21-inch high-definition digital display spanning across the dashboard, integrating both driving information and infotainment in a wrap-around format. A typically small steering wheel with built-in controls and a separate configurable touch-screen for shortcuts complete the package.
Connectivity is handled by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while an AI-powered voice assistant and over-the-air updates enhance usability over time.
Two variants will be available from launch; the entry-level Allure Hybrid and the GT Premium Hybrid. The GT brings luxury appointments including Nappa leather, ventilated and massaging electric front seats, a panoramic glass roof, and adaptive pixel LED headlights with six lighting modes.
Designed with families in mind, the 5008 Hybrid offers a flexible three-row layout. The second row features a 60/40 split with individually sliding and tilting backrests, allowing for a range of cargo and passenger combinations. Boot space is rated at 348L boot in seven-seat form or up to 2232L. Three-zone climate control is standard.
