Volvo EX90 electric large SUV on sale in Australia, price from $124,990

Volvo Australia has confirmed pricing for its new fully electric SUV, the EX90, just ahead of its local arrival. It promises to set new benchmarks in power, luxury, and safety for the brand.

The Volvo EX90 is launching in two main variants, both powered by a 111kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery, with twin electric motors. For the entry Plus Twin Motor the system develops 300kW and 770Nm, while the Ultra Twin Motor unleashes 380kW and 910Nm.

Understandably, that latter variant comes in as the new most powerful production Volvo ever offered in Australia. Acceleration across 0-100km/h takes just 4.9 seconds, while the Plus version does it in a respectable 5.9 seconds.

When it comes time to recharge, the big battery can take in up to 250kW of DC fast charging, which means the battery can be replenished from 10-80 per cent in about 30 minutes. It also accepts 11kW AC charging for a three-phase wall box.

As the safest Volvo ever built, the EX90 features cutting-edge Safe Space technology, combining cameras, radars, and LiDAR sensors linked to a high-performance computing system powered by NVIDIA DRIVE. This setup enables a 360-degree real-time view of the surroundings, improving safety and enhancing Volvo’s assisted driving function, Pilot Assist, which now includes lane change steering support.

Inside, the EX90 offers a premium yet calm cabin experience with Scandinavian-inspired luxury. Nordico upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, and a 14.5-inch centre touch-screen with Google services as standard.

A high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 25 speakers and 3D surround sound no doubt elevates the cabin experience, with wireless Apple CarPlay, Google Assistant, and Google Maps integration ensuring seamless connectivity. Phone key technology allows drivers to unlock and start the car using their smartphone, with personalised profiles loading automatically upon entry.

Volvo’s sustainability focus extends to the EX90, which incorporates 15 per cent recycled steel, 25 per cent recycled aluminium, and 48kg of recycled plastics and bio-based materials – the highest level in any Volvo to date.

The new model comes with a five-year/75,000km service plan as standard. Prices for each variant start from the following (excluding on-road costs):

2025 Volvo EX90 Plus Twin Motor AWD 300kW/770Nm: $124,990
2025 Volvo EX90 Plus Twin Motor AWD 380kW/910Nm: $134,990
