2025 Isuzu MU-X now on sale in Australia, adds X-Terrain variant

Isuzu Ute Australia has pulled the wraps off its most refined MU-X yet, with the 2025 model year bringing a raft of updates aimed at improving safety, technology, and ride comfort. The big news is the introduction of a new X-Terrain flagship variant, which brings a dark-themed design and more premium appointments inside.

The facelifted MU-X benefits from a fresh exterior look, incorporating sharper lines and aeronautical-inspired details in the headlights, grille, and bumpers. Higher grades now sport gloss black elements for a bolder stance, while the new X-Terrain dials up the attitude with unique badging, black 20-inch alloy wheels, and a choice of four paint finishes, including an exclusive Slate Grey metallic.

Inside, the cabin has been modernised with new upholstery options and a slightly revised dashboard layout. The LS-M now comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment system, while LS-U, LS-T, and X-Terrain variants step up to a larger 9.0-inch display. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard across the range, with the flagship models also feature a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Adding to the premium feel, ambient lighting has been introduced, with the X-Terrain sporting a red-themed glow to match its bold exterior with red stitching.

Isuzu has made significant improvements to the MU-X’s safety tech, with the latest-generation stereo camera enhancing the ADAS suite’s ability to detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. A 360-degree surround-view camera has also been added to LS-T and X-Terrain models for improved visibility in tight spaces. Other refinements include an updated Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, which now integrates real-time pressure and temperature readouts for the instrument cluster.

Engineers have taken feedback from Australian customers and fine-tuned the MU-X’s suspension to deliver better body control and stability. New dampers with larger pistons and revised valving help smooth out corrugations and improve handling, particularly when towing or carrying a load.

For off-road enthusiasts, Isuzu has also refined the Rough Terrain Mode, allowing it to work more seamlessly with the rear differential lock to improve traction on uneven surfaces.

2025 Isuzu MU-X accessories

The 2025 Isuzu MU-X range continues to offer a choice of two turbo-diesel engines; a 1.9-litre four-cylinder producing 110kW and 350Nm, and a 3.0-litre four-cylinder pushing out 140kW and 450Nm. Both are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, with buyers able to opt for either 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains.

Prices for the new range start from the following (excluding on-road costs). Servicing is every 15,000km and costs are capped at $469 each for five years/75,000km. Isuzu continues to offer a six-year/150,000km warranty. It lands in dealerships from March 1, 2025.
