BMW Group has reported its global sales figures for 2024, which dropped 4.0 per cent. The BMW brand also experienced a slight drop of 2.3 per cent compared with 2023 efforts.
The group, which includes MINI and Rolls-Royce, delivered 2,450,804 new vehicles globally in 2024. That’s down 4.0 per cent on 2023 global sales. Of that, the BMW brand made up 2,200, 177 units.
Despite the slight downturn, BMW remains the global favourite out of the big Germany luxury marques. Mercedes reported 1,983,400 sales (down 3%), and Audi sold 1,671,218 vehicles in 2024 (down 11.8%).
Interestingly, the performance BMW M division sold 206,582 vehicles globally, which is a 2.1 per cent rise. BMW Group electrified models (EV and PHEVs), experienced a 4.8 per cent increase, but that’s a given since more and more EVs and PHEVs make up the showroom, and in some case replace petrol/diesel models.
In Australia, BMW sold 26,341 vehicles in 2024, according to VFACTS new vehicle registration figures. That was up 0.6 per cent on 2023 efforts. It outsold Mercedes-Benz (19,989 units) and Audi (15,333 units), as well as Lexus (13,642) and Land Rover (7910).
Its best-selling model in Australia was the X1 (4536 units), followed by the X3 (3374) and X5 (3157).
