GWM is gearing up for the Australian introduction of its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), offering an enticing introductory deal for the Haval H6GT PHEV. Early adopters can secure the 321kW model at a discounted drive-away price of $53,990, down from $55,990, while also receiving a complimentary GWM 7kW home EV charger valued at $499.
The Haval H6GT PHEV – as highlighted in our recent top 10 hybrid SUVs feature – will set a new benchmark in the hybrid small SUV segment. It features a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain delivering a whopping 321kW and 762Nm. That’s enough to see 0–100 km/h claimed in just 4.9 seconds. Easily the quickest petrol vehicle in its class.
There’s no mention of special brakes or suspension to match all of that power, although it does look like it features big red-painted calipers.
Also a standout in its class, the new model boasts an impressive 180km of electric driving range thanks to a big (for a PHEV) 35.4kWh battery. It also offers DC fast-charging at up to 48kW, which sets a new benchmark for its class – it’s also one of the highest rates for any PHEV.
To reward existing GWM customers, the brand is also offering a loyalty bonus. Those trading in a GWM vehicle for the new H6GT PHEV can enjoy an additional $3000 trade-in credit, while current GWM owners adding this PHEV to their lineup will receive a $1000 loyalty discount.
Based on the top-tier ‘Ultra’ variant, the H6GT PHEV combines coupe-inspired styling with plenty of darkened highlights for that fashionable look. The new model also comes with a heap of advanced safety features.
