Some images have surfaced online which apparently reveal the all-new, controversy-stirring fully electric Jaguar, set to hit showrooms in 2026. This could give us some idea of the company’s new design direction.
Jaguar is going through a major brand overhaul, and it’s to the point where it has completely deleted all prior content on its Instagram account. At the time of writing, the account, with 17 million followers, features just four posts. And all preview the new model in some way.
This, in my opinion (and many others, by the looks of the comments), seems quite disgusting that it would want to remove all of its heritage and past models from its timeline. It basically says that it is completely changing from the company it has been.
Judging by the leaked images, Jaguar appears to be holding onto its roots in some form by going with a traditional long-bonnet, set-back cabin profile. There’s also meaty wheel arches with curvy panels, but then very square panel edges.
At the front is a large blanked-out grille area, completely square, while the rear looks like it features an actual grille, weirdly. Let’s hope there is some kind of crazy under-body aero going on, with the rear vent acting as an extraction vent to aid downforce.
In terms of the powertrain, Jaguar hasn’t revealed anything yet. All we know is it will be fully electric and based on a new platform known as the JEA. It’d want to offer 2000hp to win back the many fans it has lost over the recent couple of weeks. The new model is set to be pitched much higher in the market than previous Jaguar models.
Think along the lines of targeting Bentley and even Rolls-Royce – prices are set to start from over $300,000. In that regard, we suspect the powertrain will be more about smoothness and quietness than outright performance. The wheels do like nice and fat, however.
Some images of the interior have also been leaked, showing a futuristic layout with very few buttons, a unique ‘centre console’ separating the driver and passenger (if it could be called that), with no instrument cluster. The layout looks less like a car and more like a futuristic train cockpit.
Jaguar is planning to unveil the new model on December 3, at the Miami Art Week. We’ll know all the details then. Stay tuned.
