Lexus LBX Morizo RR on sale in Australia H1 2025, price from $76,490

Lexus Australia is getting ready to launch its most hardcore small SUVe ever, the LBX Morizo RR. It’s set to hit local showrooms in the first half of 2025 with a price tag starting from $76,490.

Powering the LBX Morizo RR is a 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a first for Lexus, delivering an impressive 206kW of power at 6500rpm and 390Nm of torque between 3250-4600rpm. The engine is paired with a newly developed eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission, packed with close-ratio gears.

Toyota recently introduced a similar package in the GR Corolla and GR Yaris, with the same engine.

The LBX Morizo RR features an electronically-controlled all-wheel-drive system, incorporating a rear Torsen limited-slip differential to optimise traction. Compared with the regular LBX, the Morizo RR sits 10mm lower thanks to sports suspension. Braking is provided by aluminium monoblock four-piston calipers at the front and floating single-piston calipers at the rear, paired with ventilated discs.

Exterior enhancements include exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels and aerodynamic revisons, such as a sporty front bumper and rear vertical fins. Inside, Lexus showcases its Takumi craftsmanship with high-quality materials, unique black leather-accented seats, and red stitching details on the shift knob and steering wheel.

The name Morizo, given by Lexus global chairman Akio Toyoda to his favourite vehicle projects, highlights the car’s special status within the lineup. Lexus Australia chief executive John Pappas said:

“It is faithful to the Lexus ‘yet’ approach: creating cars that are rewarding yet luxurious to drive, and stirring yet sophisticated in the way they deliver thrills. The LBX Morizo RR is the ultimate expression of the Lexus Driving Signature in small car form, setting a new benchmark for genuine performance and luxury.”

More details will be revealed closer to its launch next year. It will come in as a unique performance model within the small SUV range, competing against the likes of the Audi RS Q3, BMW X2 M Performance and Mercedes GLA AMG performance models. Prices start from $76,490 (excluding on-road costs).
