Looking to buy a new premium mid-size SUV? Genesis Australia has just announced its 2025 update for the GV70. It’s on sale now priced from $78,500.
Three trim levels are on sale, split up with two different engine packages. The new naming structure spans from the Advanced, Signature, and Signature Sport. Going for the entry Advanced means you’re restricted to the 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the others are available with either the four-cylinder or the V6.
For the 2.5T, the four-cylinder unit produces 224kW and 422Nm, sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission and into an all-wheel drive system. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is claimed in a respectable 6.2 seconds, with an official fuel consumption rate of 10.3L/100km.
If it’s performance you want, the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 is what you need. It produces 279kW and 530Nm, also sent through an eight-speed and into all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is not that different, rated at 11.3L/100km, with 0-100km/h coming up in a claimed 5.2 seconds. (Both outputs are unchanged from the outgoing model.)
As standard you get a 27-inch digital display for the dash, head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over-the-air updates, and new-look 19- and 21-inch alloy wheels (depending on the trim), with new micro-lens array headlights and a sporty bodykit for the Signature Sport. There’s also the latest grille design in a double-mesh pattern.
The Signature models add a Band & Olufsen sound system, Air Aroma diffuser for the cabin, UV-C sterilisation compartment, Nappa leather, and Ergo-motion front seats. The V6 adds an electronic limited-slip diff for the back, Road Preview Electronic Control Suspension, and unique drive modes.
Genesis has made various revisions to the chassis for the 2025 model, including adding more structural stiffness measures around the A-pillar, increased sound deadening, and retuned steering and suspension. Genesis product specialist Tim Rodgers said:
“Improved powertrain isolation and sound deadening makes 2025 GV70 noticeably quieter and more refined than its predecessor. No single change is responsible on its own, yet the combination of all the many changes dramatically enhances 2025 GV70’s overall refinement on the road.”
Other highlights include new Active Sound Design technology, a new climate control touch-screen with three-zone settings, sat-nav with augmented reality, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, and Crosswind Stability control. An in-cabin camera and Genesis Connected Services also come as standard.
The new model is on sale now from the following prices (excluding on-road costs). Our full review will be up when the national media embargo lifts on November 15. Stay tuned.
