2025 Mazda BT-50 revealed, on sale in Australia Q1

As promised, Mazda has pulled the wraps off the refreshed BT-50 ute for 2025, showcasing updates in design, technology, and safety. The local arm says this latest model is the most comprehensive update since the launch of the current generation in 2020.

One of the biggest changes is the evolved design, although it is not a drastic change from the current model. The front end sees a light makeover, featuring new LED headlights and a redesigned radiator grille, framed by a beefier bumper that includes an ‘air curtain’ to boost aerodynamic efficiency.

At the rear, a fresh tailgate design and updated LED taillights, paired with a larger Mazda badge, give the BT-50 a commanding look. Completing the exterior overhaul are newly-designed alloy wheels.

Inside, Mazda has revised the cabin with a more sophisticated and driver-friendly layout. Central to this is the updated infotainment system, now boasting physical volume and tuning knobs for easier use on the go, with a 9.0-inch screen.

A new 7.0-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) within the instrument cluster is also added, offering real-time displays like steering angle, tyre pressure monitoring, and Rough Terrain Mode status. Wireless Android Auto joins Apple CarPlay as standard, and USB-C ports are now available for faster device charging.

The 2025 BT-50 also brings a host of safety upgrades, starting with improved front stereo cameras that double the vehicle’s field of view. New features include Traffic Jam Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which integrates with Traffic Sign Recognition to automatically adjust speed. The AEB system has been upgraded to detect motorcycles and pedestrians, while Emergency Lane Keeping can now sense road edges without lane markings.

Mazda is offering fresh colour options, with Red Earth Metallic as the standout, complemented by two other new shades; Geode White Pearl and Sailing Blue Metallic. The interior of top-tier models introduces eye-catching black and terracotta leather seats with synthetic suede, adding a touch of class to the rugged ute.

No changes are made under the bonnet, leaving the Isuzu 3.0-litre turbo-diesel with carry-over 140kW/450Nm outputs, matched to a six-speed auto. Selectable four-wheel drive with a dual-range transfer case continues.

More details on pricing and specifications will be announced closer to the BT-50’s launch in Australia, during the first quarter of 2025.
