2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe revealed

Price starts from $58,800 in Australia

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is now in its second incarnation, with pricing and specifications confirmed for Australia ahead of its arrival in 2025.

The new model features sharper and more crisp styling than its outgoing predecessor. Two variants will be available in Australia, including the 218 and the M235 xDrive (note BMW has since dropped the ‘i’ from the badge names).

Powering the 218 is a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder engine developing 115kW and 230Nm, matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmission with front-wheel drive. BMW claims 0-100km/h is possible in a respectable (for a base mode) 8.6 seconds.

Stepping up to the M235 xDrive gets you a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder that produces 233kW and 400Nm. With all-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch auto as well, the sporting flagship is capable of 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Dimensions have grown, with 20mm of additional length, for a total of 4546mm. It’s also 1800mm wide (same as before), 1445mm tall (25mm taller), and riding on a 2670mm wheelbase (same). Open the hatch and 430L of boot capacity (same as outgoing model) is at your disposal, with 40:20:40 split/fold rear seats.

The exterior now features adaptive LED headlights, with a wide interpretation of BMW’s kidney grilles, with ‘Iconic Glow’ grille illumination becoming available in the middle of 2025. Both variants feature Adaptive M Suspension, with significant chassis revisions to improve handling and dynamics, including new pressure peaks in the shock absorbers and sports steering, as well as 8mm lower ride height.
