Suzuki Australia has announced a new nationwide drive-away pricing model for the 2024 Jimny range, while confirming increased supply for the plucky off-roader.
The 2024 Jimny range spans an impressive six variants wide, made up of the three-door Lite manual, regular three-door in manual and auto, five-door XL in manual and auto, and the XL Heritage. Prices now kick off from $34,990, drive-away.
That excludes metallic paint options but it means the entry price is bumped up slightly from $30,490 in the outgoing Lite. Doing a quick calculation based on a NSW buyer, the old price including on-road costs was $34,229. However, this new setup is nation-wide (excluding QLD) and makes it clear for buyers when browsing models.
Suzuki has also introduced the new pricing model on its website so buyers can build their ideal package and see an accurate representation of the figures. Speaking about the new offer, Michael Pachota, general manager of auto in Australia, said:
“We are excited to introduce drive-away pricing for Jimny, making it easier than ever for Australians to experience the thrill and functionality of this iconic vehicle, understanding in absolute transparency, it’s undeniable value.”
In terms of production and supply for Australia, Pichota says the team is “consistently succeeding in securing greater production” in 2024. Since it arrived in Australia in 2019, demand has far exceeded supply and in fact Suzuki has rarely conducted advertising due to these opposing forces. Pichota said:
“Whilst wait times still apply, we are consistently succeeding in securing greater production in 2024, which means more customers can get behind the wheel of their new Jimny sooner! Passion for the Jimny and its community continue to grow, there is literally not a day I don’t see five or six Jimny’s on the road, exchanging the ‘Jimny wave’ (it’s the law!) as we spot each other amidst the boring spread of vehicles around us in traffic.”
The 2024 Jimny range is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder engine that produces 75kW and 130Nm. It features a four-wheel drive system with RWD and 4WD, and a two-speed transfer gearbox with low range. We’ve timed 0-100km/h in 13.12 seconds in the manual XL and 12.02 seconds in the manual three-door.
So far this year (through June), Suzuki has delivered 4710 Jimny vehicles according to VFACTS. That’s up 55.6 per cent compared with the first six months of 2023. It is the second best-selling vehicle in its specific class, behind the Mazda CX-3 (8537 sales).
