Specs and prices for the new Smart #1 and Smart #3 have been confirmed for Australia, ahead of the official launch in September.
The new Smart car range will span six model variants, made up of the #1 and #3, topped by a Brabus trim level for both. Under the Brabus is the Pro+ entry model and then the Premium mid-range variant.
In the two entry variants is a single electric motor producing 200kW and 343Nm, offering a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds for the #1 and 5.8 seconds for the #3. Range figures specific to Australia haven’t been mentioned, but overseas this model offers a WLTP figure of 420-440km.
Stepping up to the Brabus model gets you twin electric motors that combine to produce 315kW and 543Nm, in both models. It can sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.9 seconds in the #1 and 3.7 seconds in the sportier-designed #3. The WLTP range overseas is listed at 400km.
As standard the new models come with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, active safety features, and LED headlights. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included (wireless). Stepping up to the Premium adds a 640W Beats sound system, faster AC charging, leather trim, and matrix headlights.
The Brabus adds the twin motors as well as a sporty bodykit with unique 20-inch wheels and other trimmings, along with some highlights inside.
Both models are made in China and are built on Geely’s SEA platform like the Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X. Australian distribution is handled by LSH Auto. Its managing director, John Good, said:
