2024 Subaru WRX announced for Australia, Club Spec special edition confirmed

The iconic Subaru WRX Club Spec edition is making a comeback in Australia, with 150 examples going up for grabs as part of the 2024 model year lineup.

Subaru is confirming the MY24 lineup, which lands in Australia in April. The range spans an impressive nine different variants, from the base WRX sedan manual to the range-topping WRX Sportswagon tS automatic. And somewhere in the middle is the new Club Spec.

Like past generations of the Club Spec badge, the new model will come with a range of bespoke garnishes and actual performance-enhancing features. Highlights include an STI-style rear wing, Brembo six-piston front and twin-piston rear brakes, ventilated and cross-drilled rotors, and unique sports suspension tuning.

There’s also 19-inch alloy wheels in matt grey, wearing Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres. A smattering of Club Spec badges and logos are also included, along with proper Recaro bucket seats in the front. Just 150 examples are being made for Australia.

No changes are made under the bonnet for the Club Spec or indeed the MY24 lineup. That means the 2.0-litre turbo ‘FA24’ flat-four unit continues to produce 202kW and 350Nm. Fortunately, the Club Spec edition will be available with the six-speed manual transmission only. A CVT auto continues in most other variants, with an optional manual for the base WRX sedan and RS sedan only.

As part of the MY2024 rollout, Subaru is introducing a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system as standard on all Sportswagon grades, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is standard on all. Ceramic White replaces Crystal White Pearl on the Sportswagon, with a new Asteroid Grey Pearl added to the wagons.
