This is it, the third-generation 2024 Porsche Panamera. It introduces a freshened up design, more technology inside, and more power from under the bonnet. It arrives in Australia early next year.
Starting with the design, Porsche says it has emphasised on expressing width with the new model. There’s a new front air intake above the number plate, a revised window line, and the rear window edges are flush with the body for a smoother look.
The new model measures 5052mm long, 1937mm wide and 1423mm tall. That makes it 3mm longer than the outgoing model, but with the same width and height.
To help with ride and handling, the new model comes standard with dual-chamber air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management. Porsche says it offers a wider range of comfort and sportiness than before. Buyers will also be able to option up to Porsche Active Ride suspension for enhanced capability.
In terms of powertrains, Porsche is offering four different E-Hybrid setups. The top Turbo E-Hybrid features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with a new 140kW electric motor. Combined, the system generates 500kW and 930Nm, offering a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.2 seconds.
Thanks to its 25.9kWh battery, the Turbo E-Hybrid also offers an electric driving range of 83-93 km, with a standard 11kW on-board charging system requiring around 2 hours and 39 minutes to recharge. Other E-Hybrid models use a 2.9-litre turbo V6 petrol engine, producing 260kW and 500Nm (up 17kW/50Nm), capable of seeing 0-100km/h done and dusted in as little as 4.8 seconds for the Panamera 4, and 5.2 seconds for the base Panamera RWD.
Inside, the 2024 Panamera adopts Porsche’s latest cabin philosophy, with the gear selector moved up to the dash, and then twin digital screens spread across the dash. Buyers can also option for a third screen, a 10.9-inch unit, for the passenger side like in the new Cayenne and Taycan.
In Australia, Porsche says all models will come with (at minimum) a panoramic glass roof, privacy glass, lane-change assist, front seat ventilation, digital radio, four-zone climate control, surround-view parking cameras, and adaptive cruise control.
The entry Panamera starts from $227,000 while the Turbo E-Hybrid kicks off from $402,300 (excluding on-roads). It’s available to order now and deliveries are scheduled to begin during the later stages of the first quarter in 2024.
