2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N (Elantra N) makes Australian debut, at WTAC

Showcased at World Time Attack in Sydney alongside local debut of IONIQ 5 N

The 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N (aka Elantra N) made its Australian debut in Sydney today, during the 2023 World Time Attack Challenge as part of a special N exhibit.

Hyundai only just unveiled the facelifted model in April, overseas, but it isn’t set to arrive in Australian showrooms until later in the year. The main change is the the new front end with a full-width trim piece that connects the headlights in the middle.

There’s also new headlights with an LED light strip running across the top, as well as a reshuffled set of intakes in the lower bar, with stepper strakes in body colour providing a larger central opening at the bottom.

Those with an attention to detail will notice the new, flush-style H badges front and back as well. These are finished in matt black. A new, chunkier rear bumper bar is also part of the update.

Hyundai has added some new wheels to the mix. On the example showcased here in Sydney, these are the forged type that have been available on the i30 N hatch. In black, they look very nice and perhaps more sporty than the outgoing machined-face design.

In terms of hardware, the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder from the current model carries over. It produces 206kW and 393Nm, or up to 213kW during overboost with N Grin Shift activated. It’s matched up to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch auto with a limited-slip diff.

Some technology updates are applied inside, such as a switch to an electronic park brake, new Digital Key 2 Touch compatibility for smartphone access, and a surround-view camera system. Safety has been further tweaked thanks to blind-spot monitoring and more airbags.

Hyundai is showcasing the 2024 i30 Sedan N at the World Time Attack Challenge this Saturday at Sydney Motorsport Park, where fans will be able to get up close and personal with all of Hyundai’s N fleet including an example of the upcoming IONIQ 5 N. Local prices for the IONIQ 5 N were confirmed today, kicking off from $111,000 (excluding on-roads).
