Lexus has confirmed details of its all-new LM super-luxurious people mover for Australia, including its surprisingly high price tag.
Three main variants have been locked in for Australia, spanning from the LM 350h Sports Luxury two-wheel drive, the 350h Sports Luxury AWD, to the top 500h Ultra Luxury AWD.
As Lexus fans will recognise, the Sports Luxury label is usually reserved for the top-end spec. So with all of the lineup running on this level at minimum, it gives you some idea of its high-end focus, perhaps justifying the price.
So, how much is the Lexus LM? Prices start from $160,888 for the base 350h. That makes it one of the most expensive people-movers on the market. For that you get seven seats and a business-class-like cabin experience, with two reclining chairs in the middle row and three across the back.
Power comes from a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol running in tandem with an electric motor assist system. Combined, this setup develops 184kW and 270Nm. Fuel economy and performance figures are yet to be confirmed for Australia.
At the top of the range, the 500h features the company’s relatively new 2.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder, paired with hybrid technology as well. It produces a combined 200kW (Lexus Australia says “more than 200kW”).
The top model has just two seats in the back, but they are proper luxury recliners. A glass partition can also be raised up behind the front seats for privacy, with Japanese Takumi craftsmanship providing first-class attention to detail, with the Lexus-first Rear Climate Concierge package fitted as standard.
A world-first 48-inch wide-screen display also sits behind the front seats, running via a 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. There’s also a mini drinks chiller in the back for the ultimate in lavish motoring.
Lexus Australia says the new LM is scheduled to arrive locally in December, with order books opening later this year. Prices start from the following (excluding on-road costs):
