Hot hatch fans will be excited to hear Honda Australia has been able to increase its local allocation of the spectacular new Civic Type R, adding 500 more units to the schedule.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R has been well-received by fans and media alike. And for good reason. It has already set a number of lap records around the world, including more recently the Nurburgring FWD production car record.
Honda Australia says delivery times for the new model for customers who have placed an order have been reduced. It says it has โbeen continuously monitoringโ the situation regarding lengthy production delays and has been looking for opportunities to reduce the impact for Type R buyers.
The local arm says the current estimate for the latest orders is on schedule for delivery in February, 2024. Honda says its dealerships have started contacting customers to notify them of the updated delivery times.
In these efforts, it now says it has also secured an additional 500 units of the new model for Australia, and these will be made available for customers this year. Honda Australia director, Carolyn McMahon, said:
โI am pleased that we have been able to allocate additional stock of the all-new Civic Type R for the Australian market, and that our loyal customers will benefit from the arrival of their vehicle within a reasonable timeframe.โ
As a reminder, the new Type R is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 235kW and 420Nm. This is sent through a six-speed manual transmission and into a tight front-wheel drive system.
Standard equipment includes a set of 19-inch alloy wheels wearing whopping 265/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, a crazy-big rear wing and dedicated front apron, while the interior showcases trademark red-upholstered sports seats.
Four main paint colours are available, including Championship White, Crystal Black, Rally Red, and Sonic Grey. Prices in Australia start from $72,600 (drive-away).
