Jaguar has burst into the high-performance SUV scene with this. It’s the new Jaguar F-PACE SVR, and it’s one of the most powerful SUVs on the market.
Joining the range with the MY2019 update, the SVR sports a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that belts out 404kW of power and 680Nm of torque. Across the tarmac this mighty unit helps the SUV sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 283km/h.
Aside from the potent engine, the rest of the vehicle is given a thorough going over by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. This means everything from the suspension, brakes, and even the aerodynamics are tuned and tweaked to support sporty driving.
To help make the SUV pop, visually, the F-PACE SVR comes with a unique aero kit with lift-reducing air vents around the wheel arches, with larger air intakes in the front end helping the beast breathe easier at speed. There’s also a set of 21-inch alloy wheels, bespoke to the SVR, or optional 22s if you want more bling.
Stopping power comes thanks to 395mm front discs and 396mm rear discs, clamped by multi-piston calipers front and rear. A variable valve exhaust system makes sure everyone can hear you coming before they see you, and it’s actually 6.6kg lighter than the standard exhaust systems.
Enhancements are also made to the cabin, with big rib-hugging bucket seats up front, wrapped in traditional lozenge-style quilted leather, with a matching rear bench. A scattering of SVR logos further boost the wow factor, with the driver getting an SVR steering wheel and aluminium paddle shifters.
Jaguar Australia has confirmed the new variant will arrive in local showrooms as part of the MY2019 F-PACE range, set to arrive later this year. Prices for the SVR will start from $140,020 in Australia (before on-road costs). Take a look at the quick promo video below for more – you get a brief a taste of the engine sound.
