Subaru Uncharted on sale in Australia, price from $59,990

Subaru Australia has confirmed specs and the starting price of the all-new Uncharted fully electric small SUV, which is available for pre-order now.

The Subaur Uncharted is essentially a re-badged Toyota C-HR+ with fully electric power. It uses a 74.7kWh CATL battery, supporting up to 150kW DC fast-charging or 22kW with three-phase AC power. When full, the battery provides a range of 522km.

From there, energy is sent to two electric motors (front and rear), providing all-wheel drive and a combined 252kW. That’s a serious amount of power for the small SUV class. Subaru Australia says it’ll catapult the SUV from 0-100km/h in 5.0 seconds, however, we’ve tested the larger Solterra with the same powertrain (likely heavier) in 4.87 seconds; this could be slightly quicker.

Interestingly, Subaru describes the Uncharted as offering the “potency and precision of WRX, the balance and corner-carving agility of BRZ, and sure-footed, multi-terrain capability” of its SUV lineup. So, it should be a one-size-fits-all package.

Inside, passengers interact with a 14-inch touch-screen, with a 7.0-inch display for the driver. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system come standard, with an optional panoramic roof.

So, what’s the price? It will start from $59,990, excluding on-road costs. Subaru Australia has also revised the prices for its Solterra and Trailseeker to help these all align. The Solterra now starts from $61,990 (down from $63,990), and the Trailseeker (basically a wagon version of the Solterra) starts from $63,990 (down from $67,990).
