Honda Australia has confirmed local pricing for the new Prelude, with the hybrid coupe opening at $65,000 drive-away under the brand’s fixed-price One Price Promise. It made its local debut at the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show.
No, there’s no Type R or manual version but in current times, that may actually be permissible, as driving enthusiasm cedes some ground to running affordability. It is available to order now through Honda’s website and Honda Centres, with buyers offered a choice of five exterior colours at no extra cost.

The Prelude marks the nameplate’s return to Australia after more than 25 years away, landing as a single-grade model powered by Honda’s e:HEV hybrid setup, similar to what’s seen in the Civic. That means a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder and electric motor system, producing a total of 135kW and 315Nm – modest for a modern two-door sports car.
Honda is positioning it as a sportier take on electrification rather than a plug-in, with a new S+ Shift function designed to simulate stepped gear changes and a more involved drive through sound and throttle response changes.
Honda says the new coupe also borrows key hardware from the Civic Type R, including performance-focused chassis components and Brembo front brakes, while standard equipment includes Google Built-In, paddle shifters, heated front seats and Honda SENSING safety tech. Official claimed fuel use is listed at 4.3L/100km on Honda’s website.

Ownership backing is bundled into Honda’s Road Ahead Guarantee, which includes a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of premium roadside assistance, and the first five scheduled services capped at $199 each.
That gives the Prelude a fairly straightforward value pitch, even if its pricing puts it closer to warm hatch and entry sports coupe money than old-school affordable coupe territory.
