Dreame Technology plans to build “fastest car in the world” for 2027

The ink has barely dried on the Yangwang U9 Track Edition’s top speed record, and already a compatriot start-up wants a piece of its scalp.

Dreame Technology is a consumer electronics company based in Suzhou, specialising in robot vacuum cleaners. Like Xiaomi and Huawei, it wants to diversify into building automobiles and are gunning for the top.

Aiming to topple Ferrari and McLaren is no mean feat, but over 6300 patents filed including a 200,000rpm electric motor means it is serious. According to an Autocar report, CEO Yu Hao said bluntly in an email to employees:

“Our dream is to create the fastest car in the world. Great dreams are born from fearlessness.”

Expected to be revealed in 2027, a motion-blurred picture of a hypercar is the only clue at this stage. It show s a few discernible details, such as a Lexus LFA- like teardrop cabin, a two-tone red on black paint scheme, some serious aerodynamics and a central spine ala McLaren F1.

It looks like the Chinese bloodbath for top speed and lap time supremacy is about to get insane. How long before we see a 600km/h production car? We’ll bring you more news as it comes to hand.
