The all-new 2027 Kia Seltos will arrive in showrooms in Australia this month, with the second-generation small SUV switching to an exclusively hybrid lineup this time around.
Six variants are being offered, spanning the entry-level S, Sport, Sport+ through to the top GT-Line in FWD and AWD. All Australian models use a 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, confirming the petrol-only engines available overseas won’t form part of the local range.
Most variants are front-wheel drive, while the flagship GT-Line AWD introduces e-AWD, marking the first application of the technology within Kia Australia’s hybrid lineup. It basically adds an electric motor to the rear axle.
Kia Australia hasn’t yet released outputs or fuel consumption figures, however, overseas, the FWD hybrid uses a 1.6-litre GDI petrol four-cylinder producing a total of 113kW (154PS), while the AWD hybrid uses the same engine but adds the rear e-motor for a combined 131kW (178PS).
The new Seltos moves onto Hyundai-Kia’s updated K3 platform, also used by the latest Hyundai Kona, and has grown compared with its predecessor. It measures 4460mm long, 1830mm wide and 1635mm tall, with a 2690mm wheelbase, providing a larger overall footprint and increased cabin space.
Inside, the new generation adopts a significantly more modern dashboard layout, with twin 12.3-inch displays incorporated into a curved panel and a separate 5.0-inch climate display. Physical controls remain for frequently used audio and climate functions.
