Looking for a tough workhorse with a big tray at the back and some creature comforts inside? Ford Australia has something that might be of interest. The new 2027 Ranger Super Duty XLT single-cab and super-cab.
These join the recently-added XLT double-cab variants of the Super Duty, meaning you get most of the added comfort and luxury-oriented items from the dual-cab but with the long tray at the back.
Specifically, the XLT adds unique, rally-style 18-inch 8-stud alloy wheels wrapped in 275/70 General Grabber all-terrain tyres, along with a carpet floor instead of the harder-wearing vinyl floor in the non-XLT Super Duty, and leather-accented front seats with heating and cooling.

The XLT also comes with rubber floor matts to protect the carpet flooring, ensuring it remains tough and durable for mucky work. These two body styles, especially the single-cab, come in as rare packages in Australia.
For example, the Isuzu D-Max in single-cab is only available in base SX form, and the Mitsubishi Triton is only available in GLX form in the single-cab with steel wheels, and the Toyota HiLux single-cab only comes in base WorkMate form as well.
In terms of tray dimensions for the genuine steel tray options on the Super Duty, the single-cab tray measures 2550mm in length and 1890mm width (internal). That’s a big increase over the new XLT style-side box on the dual-cab, which measures 1453mm long (floor) and 1217mm between the wheel arches (1220mm width at base of opening). The super-cab tray measures 2100mm long and 1890mm wide.
As with all Range Super Duty models, power comes from a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine that produces 154kW and 600Nm. This is sent through a four-wheel drive system (permanent ‘4A’ mode) via a 10-speed automatic.
The new variants are scheduled to arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of this year, with prices starting from the following (excluding on-road costs):
MY2027 Ford Ranger Super Duty XLT single-cab: $88,990
MY2027 Ford Ranger Super Duty XLT super-cab: $92,490
