2027 RAM 1500 SRT TRX revealed, under consideration for Australia

It’s back. RAM has confirmed the return of its halo performance pickup, announcing the 2027 1500 SRT TRX as the most powerful petrol-powered production pickup truck yet. It’s the first off-road model to from the revived SRT Performance division.

Set to arrive in the second half of 2026, the new TRX brings back the supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8, producing 777hp (579kW) and 922 torque (up from 523kW/882Nm on the first-gen TRX). Those figures place it at the top of the segment for outright output, with RAM claiming 0–60mph (97km/h) in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 190km/h when launch control is engaged.

The return of the V8 will no doubt go down well with fans. RAM says that extensive recalibration work was required to integrate the supercharged V8 with its latest electrical architecture, particularly for driver assistance and traction systems.

The TRX represents the first SRT-badged RAM in nearly two decades, following the RAM SRT-10, and signals a renewed focus on high-performance vehicles under the Street and Racing Technology banner. Power is sent through a heavy-duty eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, designed to balance straight-line pace with off-road capability.

Chassis and suspension upgrades continue to play a major role in the TRX’s core character. Second-generation Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive dampers are fitted as standard, alongside RAM’s Active Terrain Dynamics system to alter suspension response for different surfaces. Suspension travel extends to up to 14 inches at the rear, while ground clearance matches the Ram 1500 RHO at 11.8 inches (300mm). Large brakes sit behind 18-inch wheels, with beadlock-capable rims available for more demanding use.

RAM has also focused on improving technology and interior specification for the new model. A 14.5-inch central touch-screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a large head-up display come standard, along with hands-free Active Drive Assist with Level 2+ capability. Luxury features such as massaging, heated and ventilated seats, dual wireless phone chargers and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system are also included.

Visually, the new TRX adopts a wider body over the regular 1500 variants, with composite guards, aggressive lighting signatures and prominent SRT and TRX badging. A new Bloodshot Night Edition will be offered to mark the model’s return, featuring a two-tone black exterior treatment, red accents, bespoke graphics and unique interior trimmings.

Pricing in the US starts from US$99,995 before on-road costs, positioning the TRX firmly at the top of the RAM 1500 range. As for Australia, it is expected to land here some time in 2027. Jeff Barber, general manager of RAM Trucks Australia, said:

“We are super-excited about the new RAM SRT TRX. The first-generation Ram TRX was a popular addition to our line-up when it was previously available. While we have nothing to announce today, we are happy to say ‘watch this space’. Although the new RAM SRT TRX is not yet confirmed for our market, it is under serious consideration.”
