Now here’s a cool-looking coupe. Mercedes-AMG has introduced the 2025 CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe in Australia, as a sleek two-door fastback featuring an upgraded turbo inline-six engine and various high-performance enhancements.
The 3.0-litre inline-six now delivers 330kW and 560Nm thanks to a new (larger) turbocharger and e-supercharger, with an overboost function pushing torque to 600Nm for short periods. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system aids efficiency and response, while a nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT transmission and 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system ensure power delivery to the tarmac.
Acceleration across the 0-100km/h sprint takes a claimed 4.0 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250km/h. Fuel consumption on the official combined cycle is a respectable 9.6L/100km, considering the impressive performance.
Styling remains distinctively AMG, highlighted by an A-shaped grille, sculpted bonnet, and flared wheel arches. The rear showcases twin round exhausts, a lip spoiler, and two-part LED taillights, complemented by 20-inch AMG Y-spoke alloy wheels and the AMG Exterior Night Package.
For handling, AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension and rear-axle steering aim to improve agility, while drive modes – including a dedicated ‘RACE’ setting – allow for performance tuning. The AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package adds adaptive engine mounts and performance brakes.
Inside, the CLE 53 features a 12.3-inch digital cluster and 11.9-inch touch-screen running the latest MBUX infotainment system, alongside AMG graphics and a Burmester 3D sound system. Sports seats in black leather with red stitching complete the driver-focused cabin.
Advanced safety tech includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and the PRE-SAFE package. A surround-view camera system, traffic sign assist, evasive manoeuvre support, and 10 airbags are also standard.
The 2025 CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe is on sale now, with prices starting from $158,900 (excluding on-road costs). Customer can select from three option packages as well; Plus Package ($2100), Carbon Package ($8900), AMG Performance Seat Package ($5400).
