One of the rarest and most fabled JDM legends has popped up for sale via Supercar Advocates’s Instagram page, a 1996 Nissan Skyline NISMO 400R, for an eye-watering price.
The 1996 NISMO 400R was based on the already mental R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R – a car that kneecapped all domestic rivals and those from mainland Europe as well, but the scope of upgrades undertaken by NISMO make this something very monumental.
Starting with the engine, the revered RB26DETT was ‘stroked’ to a 2.8-litre, using a 77.7mm extended-stroke crankshaft and conrods, and forged 87mm pistons. It also featured exhaust and driveline upgrades, as well as more hardcore turbochargers and intercooler.
The engine even received a different code name – the RBX-GT2 – such was the extent of the transformation. Despite the Japanese gentleman’s agreement to cap cars at 206kW at the time, this one threw out 298kW and 470Nm. The result? Acceleration from 0-60mph took 4.0 seconds (97km/h), and a top speed of over 300km/h.
This glorious white example features a bigger carbon fibre spoiler, 400R badging and side decal package, forged white NISMO-branded alloy wheels, as well as a unique tiller and gear shifter.
Being 1 of 44, it is asking a staggering $3,999,999. So if you’re keen, go and check your money jar or under your couch as this one will probably continue to go up in value.
