2025 Isuzu D-Max ‘Blade’ hardcore variant revealed, price from $76,990

Isuzu Australia has introduced its most off-road-capable ute yet, the D-Max Blade. Designed specifically for the Australian market, the locally developed dual-cab will be available to order from November 1.

The D-Max Blade builds on the proven platform of the popular D-Max, featuring the same reliable 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that generates 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque. It retains the D-Max’s 3500kg towing capacity and 896kg payload as well.

However, the Blade takes things further when it comes to off-road preparation. A custom suspension package incorporating MTV twin-tube dampers has been devised, increasing ground clearance by 29mm. That’s up from the standard 240mm offered on the LS-U+ and X-Terrain.

There’s also a set of downsized 17-inch satin black alloy wheels wrapped in hardcore Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT all-terrain tyres measuring 275/65. These should help improve off-road capability significantly over the standard highway terrain tyres.

Engineered with local conditions in mind, the D-Max Blade underwent 100,000km in local testing, covering a variety of terrains across Australia, including Melbourne and the harsh outback. Isuzu partnered with Walkinshaw Automotive Group to develop the new variant, benefiting from Walkinshaw’s 40 years of local automotive engineering experience.

In terms of design, the D-Max Blade adopts a tougher, more aggressive look, featuring satin black accents and bold “BLADE” branding across the body. The grille has been redesigned, integrating a subtle 112-Watt lightbar for better visibility during night off-road adventures. Underneath, the Blade is equipped with a reinforced 3mm steel bash plate for added protection, along with an 8000kg load-rated recovery point system.

Inside, the cabin maintains the D-Max’s robust yet refined feel, with exclusive touches like Blade-embossed scuff plates, embroidered headrests, and a numbered build plate. The ute also benefits from Isuzu’s comprehensive Service Plus program, including a five-year capped-price servicing plan, a six-year warranty, and up to seven years of roadside assistance.

Available in four premium paint finishes, including Basalt Black and Moonstone White, the new variant promises to be a rugged and reliable choice for off-road enthusiasts. For now, prices start from $76,990 drive-away. We’re not sure what the price will be once the “introductory” period is over.
