2025 GMC Yukon specs and features confirmed for Australia

Arrives in the second quarter of 2025 as one of the biggest SUVs on sale

GMSV has revealed key details about the upcoming 2025 GMC Yukon Denali, as it prepares for its entry into the Australian and New Zealand markets in the second quarter of next year. Positioned as a premium super-sized SUV, the Yukon Denali aims to combine luxury with utility, designed to handle both family needs and towing demands.

At the heart of the new Yukon Denali is a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine producing 313kW and 624Nm. It’s a tried-and-tested powertrain, as seen in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Specific acceleration figures haven’t been outlined for Australia, but it does promise solid performance, even with the Yukon’s size and weight.

While the official towing capacity is yet to be announced, GMSV is aiming for the Yukon to offer “best-in-class towing” capability, which should appeal to buyers who need both space and power for long hauls.

One of the standout features of the Yukon Denali is its focus on technology aimed at making the driving experience safe and convenient. Manoeuvring such a large vehicle is made easier by up to 13 camera views, offering drivers a comprehensive perspective of the surroundings.

These include surround view, front and rear views, top-down views, and even a hitch view with guidance for connecting trailers. All of these visuals are projected onto a massive 16.8-inch infotainment screen, which also houses vehicle settings, Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and other apps.

Inside, the Yukon Denali boasts seating for up to eight people. The spacious cabin doesn’t compromise on luxury either, offering premium finishes and high-end materials throughout. But perhaps one of the most impressive aspects of the Yukon’s interior is its sheer boot volume.

When the second and third rows are folded flat, the Yukon provides a massive 3480 litres of cargo capacity, making it one of the biggest boots in the SUV market. The seats fold flat as well, so it should be easy to load in chunky items. The Yukon also has three ISOFIX child seat points. GMSV managing director Jess Bala said:

“The GMC Yukon is the ultimate vehicle for families and groups who need to transport as many as eight people in comfort, safety, and style, combined with unheralded towing capability and luggage carrying ability. There’s no denying it’s a statement vehicle – with the Denali package, the Yukon offers customers the ultimate in premium finishes and performance.”

The luxury doesn’t stop at the interior space or technology. The Yukon Denali is expected to arrive with an array of safety features, though full details have yet to be confirmed. Given the vehicle’s focus on family use, buyers can expect a comprehensive safety suite similar to what’s found in other high-end GMC vehicles, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

Real-world testing is already underway in Victoria, where GMSV engineers are fine-tuning the vehicle’s performance for the Australian market. Local testing and validation are important to ensure it lives up to Aussie conditions and demands.

Pricing details for the 2025 model are anticipated to be released later this year, before hitting showrooms some time in the second quarter of next year. It is likely to be well over $150,000.
