2025 Hyundai i30 mild-hybrid lineup now on sale in Australia

Following a thorough revision of its Korean-built i30 sedan earlier this year (and incoming 2025 i30 N hatch), Hyundai has introduced the facelifted and European-sourced i30 hatchback, with a renewed focus on economy thanks to a mild-hybrid drivetrain.

The 2025 Hyundai i30 will be sourced from its factory in Czecia (aka Czech Republic), with one powertrain choice, more active safety features including an updated version of its forward-collision avoidance system, speed limit assist, multi-collision braking for pile-ups and rear occupant alert. Crucially, Hyundai’s Bluelink telematics system and over-the-air updates (OTA) have also been introduced.

Interestingly, a 1.5-litre T-GDi (turbocharged, direct injection) four-cylinder engine combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system is the sole powertrain of choice. While L/100km figures are yet to be revealed, Hyundai says the system assists the engine during traffic stops, acceleration and acts as a generator under steady state cruising, taking the load off the ICE engine. It also assists with coasting.

Output is 117kW at 5500rpm and 253Nm from 1500 to 3500rpm. This is a little bit down on the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine in the outgoing version and the current sedan, which produces 150kW and 265Nm. A seven-speed DCT automatic is the sole transmission of choice.

A spec re-adjustment means there are two sports-flavoured variants in the form of the 2025 Hyundai i30 N Line and 2025 Hyundai i30 N Line Premium. The Premium adds automatic collision notification, emergency SOS calling, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam and rear-view monitor. It also adds a panoramic sunroof, memory for the electric driver’s seat, heated steering wheel and a larger 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system.

Hyundai’s CEO Ted Lee said: β€œWith its new mild hybrid powertrain, refreshed styling, and richly equipped N Line and N Line Premium grades, the sporty and economical 2025 i30 is certain to delight our small-car customers.”

The revised i30 hatch is available now to order, with prices starting from the following (excluding on-road costs):

2025 Hyundai i30 N Line 7spd DCT 48V: $36,000
2025 Hyundai i30 N Line Premium 7spd DCT 48V: $41,000
