Ford Australia cuts prices for Mustang Mach-E & E-Transit EVs, up to $15,000 off

Ford is yet another carmaker that is slashing the prices of its EVs, with the Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit receiving price cuts of up to $15,000.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are booming at the moment, but sales are not quite as anticipated. Not to the level of meeting production and supply, anyway. This is likely one of the reasons why Ford, and many others like Tesla and Peugeot, are slashing prices.

2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Australia lineup - Select Premium and GT

Ford Australia sent out a statement highlighting the changes, but there is no specific mention as to why these cuts have been introduced. It’s good news for customers but perhaps not great news for existing customers who recently paid the original higher price.

Starting with the Mustang Mach-E, which is an electric crossover interpretation of the iconic Mustang. Right now the range spans from the Select, Premium, to the top GT. Prices have been cut by $8000, $7000 and $7000, respectively.

So now the range starts from $64,990 instead of $72,990. That is a bit more in line with what an equivalent petrol model retails for. The top GT is now priced from $97,990. Again, for an equivalent petrol model that offers similar functionality and performance you’re looking at around the $100k mark as well.

Although these prices will come as welcomed news, it’s the E-Transit that receives the biggest cut. And it needed to, in our opinion. It originally started from a ridiculous $104,990 but now kicks off from $89,990. It remains as the most expensive Transit in the lineup. Speaking about the changes, Ford Australia CEO Andrew Birkic said:

“These MLP price reductions offer even greater value to our customers and it makes these great vehicles an option for more people.”

Ford has also joined forces with EVIE, an electric vehicle charger producer and public station system, to offer customers a discount on both home installations and the use of public chargers. Andrew Birkic added:

“Being able to avoid the cost and inconvenience of the petrol station and just plug in while you’re at home is a big value-add for EV owners, so helping our customers to facilitate home charging while they’re at the Ford dealer makes perfect sense.”
