Audi is getting ready to debut its 2025 S3 performance hatch and sedan range, confirming some initial details ahead of its full reveal a bit later this year.
Engine specs have been confirmed, which is quite exciting for a teaser package. The German marque says the new model will feature a 2.0-litre turbo (TFSI) four-cylinder that produces an impressive 245kW and 420Nm.
That is a nice boost up from the outgoing model’s 228kW and 400Nm outputs. As a result, the 2025 S3 can sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.7 seconds, and it offers an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
Audi says the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission has been optimised to offer a higher starting torque thanks to additional compression of the clutch pack. Shift times under full load have also been halved, which is incredible as the current system feels pretty much instant.
Borrowing from the RS 3 hardcore model, the new S3 will come with a unique torque-splitter system. This is essentially a complex limited-slip differential for the rear axle, with a clutch pack on each drive shaft allowing fully variable torque split. The technology also opens up the possibility of a ‘drift mode’ whereby most power can be sent to the outside wheel to provoke oversteer.
The new model will also come with revised progressive steering with variable ratio gearing, upgraded brakes with 357mm front discs, a revised front MacPherson strut with a new pivot bearing to open up negative camber (now just under 1.5 degrees on the front), and there’s an updated Audi Drive Select Mode system.
Lastly, the electronic stability control system has been evolved as with the brake-type torque-vectoring control. Audi says the new model “turns into curves more easily and follows the steering angle more precisely” compared with the predecessor.
More details are set to be announced very soon, along with official confirmation from Audi Australia. Judging by these teaser images both the Sportback hatch and sedan body styles will continue.
