Italian boutique manufacturer Kimera Automobili has graduated from building nostalgic tribute cars to engineering serious, high-output supercars. Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the new K-39 swaps the brand’s usual four-cylinder restomod formula for a bespoke, 1000hp twin-turbo V8 developed by Swedish hypercar heavyweight, Koenigsegg.
Sitting mid-ship is a custom-engineered Koenigsegg V8 producing a staggering 736kW (986bhp) and 1200Nm, spinning out to an 8250rpm redline. Rather than bolting on massive turbochargers purely for top-speed bragging rights, Christian von Koenigsegg’s team opted for smaller turbos specifically to optimise immediate throttle response and drivability. Securing a bespoke powertrain from Ängelholm elevates the K-39 from a niche Italian project to a highly credible global contender.

Visually, the K-39 abandons the pure Lancia 037 tribute act seen in earlier Kimera models. Instead, it draws heavy inspiration from the Group 5 Lancia Beta Montecarlo silhouette racers of the early 1980s.
The full carbon-fibre bodywork was developed in conjunction with motorsport engineering giant Dallara, resulting in a masterclass of aggressive airflow management. The aerodynamic package features a massive front S-duct, severely widened haunches, and a rear diffuser that belongs on a Le Mans grid.

Kimera is not just building this for static display on manicured lawns. The firm confirmed a dedicated motorsport variant is currently under development to tackle the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. As a direct nod to the racing program, the first 10 deposit holders will be offered a special ‘Pikes Peak configuration’ aero package for their road-legal Stradale variants.
Adding a final layer of Swedish engineering to the Italian chassis, the K-39 integrates the ‘Koenigsegg Cloud’ architecture, enabling market-specific engine calibrations and over-the-air software updates. Pricing and exact production volumes remain tightly guarded, but securing a Koenigsegg V8 wrapped in Dallara-tuned carbon fibre ensures the invoice will be astronomical.
