BYD’s luxury brand, Denza, is getting ready to launch a new VIP-style people mover called the D9. It’ll compete against the likes of the Zeekr 009 and GAC M8, as well as the Lexus LM.
The Denza D9 is fully electric and it is being offered in single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) and twin-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. In either case, energy comes from a 103.3kWh BYD Blade battery.

In the FWD version you have a 230kW/360Nm electric motor, offering a range of 520km on the WLTP cycle. Stepping up to the AWD version sees output boosted to 275kW and 470Nm thanks to an addition e-motor, while the range drops to 480km. Charging is possible at 11kW with AC power or 200kW with DC.
As you’d expect from a modern Chinese vehicle, the interior is filled to the brim with high-tech gadgets and features. There’s a 15.6-inch multimedia screen, a 10.25-inch gauge cluster, and a 12-inch head-up display. And that’s just in the front.
In the back there are two 5.5-inch displays on the seats to control climate and media, while guests in the back are also treated to a dual-mode fridge and hotbox, capable of cooling at -6°C or warming up to 50°C.

There’s also a 14-speaker, 420W Dynaudio sound system, along with captain chairs with cooling and massaging functions, power leg rests, and 2+2+3 seating layout for maximum comfort.
Going for the top AWD model also adds BYD’s DiSus-C suspension technology, which includes adaptive dampers as well as various sensors to monitor and control pitch and roll to optimise comfort.
The Denza D9 goes on sale from the following prices (excluding on-roads), making it slightly cheaper than the Zeekr 009 but more expensive than the GAC M8 – although the M8 is a plug-in hybrid and not fully electric:
2026 Denza D9 FWD: $85,990
2026 Denza D9 AWD: 95,990
