2027 Volvo EX60 revealed, boasts impressive 810km range

Volvo has revealed its new EX60 fully electric mid-size SUV, sitting next to the XC60 and positioned as the brand’s first entrant into the world’s largest electric vehicle segment. The five-seat model is intended to play a central role in Volvo’s electric expansion, boasting some impressive features and technologies.

Sitting on Volvo’s new SPA3 electric architecture, the EX60 introduces several next-generation technologies for the brand, including cell-to-body battery construction, large-scale casting techniques and a new core computing system known as HuginCore. These elements are designed to improve efficiency, reduce weight and lower manufacturing complexity, while also supporting future software updates.

Volvo claims the EX60 offers a maximum driving range of up to 810km in all-wheel-drive form with a 112kWh battery (WLTP), making it the longest-range electric vehicle the company has produced to date. Charging performance is also a focus, with the ability to recover up to 340km of range in around 10 minutes when connected to a 400kW DC fast charger (peak 370kW).

The EX60 will be offered with three main powertrain configurations, spanning rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts, with multiple trim levels planned. Volvo says the range structure is intended to cover a broad mix of buyer needs, from efficiency-focused to higher-performance variants.

An entry single motor P6 variant offers rear-wheel drive, 275kW/480Nm, and is good for 0-100km/h in a claimed 5.9 seconds. Stepping up to the P10 AWD adds twin motors and all-wheel drive, with 375kW and 710Nm, good for 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds. And then at the top is the P12 AWD, offering 500kW and 790Nm, with 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds. Range claims are 620km, 660km, and up to 810km, respectively.

Inside, the EX60 adopts a minimalist Scandinavian design, with an emphasis on space, storage and material quality. A long wheelbase and flat floor layout help to maximise rear legroom and boot space, although, judging by the official photos of the boot the capacity could be hindered by a narrow opening.

The EX60 debuts Google’s new Gemini AI assistant for a Volvo production vehicle. Integrated into the infotainment system, the assistant allows for more natural voice interaction, while the broader system benefits from faster processing and improved response compared with existing Volvo setups.

Volvo will also launch a Cross Country version of the EX60, bringing in rugged-inspired design elements, with skid plates, bespoke wheels, and unique front and rear bumper bars. Ride height is also increased by 20mm to help with light off-road duties, and a further 20mm can be added if optioned with air suspension.

The EX60 is now available to order in Europe now, with production commencing in Sweden this year. Production will also take place in China, like with the EX30 and EX90. Australia is set to begin receiving deliveries later in 2026 from Sweden, and then from China in 2027.
