Hyundai has taken the covers off its latest high-performance electric vehicle, the IONIQ 6 N, at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Following the success of the IONIQ 5 N, the new model brings a sharper focus on handling, aerodynamics and driver interaction, with technology derived from Hyundai’s motorsport development programs.
The IONIQ 6 N is built around Hyundai N’s familiar performance pillars; cornering ability, track readiness, and everyday usability. With 478kW and 770Nm on tap when N Grin Boost is activated, the sports sedan can sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control, before topping out at 257km/h. The numbers alone place it among the fastest EVs in its class, keeping in mind the IONIQ 5 N does the sprint in 3.4 seconds.
Compared with the IONIQ 5 N and standard IONIQ 6, Hyundai has completely reworked the chassis and suspension layout to increase grip, feedback and stability. Revised geometry, a lowered roll centre, and advanced electronically-controlled dampers ensure the IONIQ 6 N is ready for both the street and the circuit. The thermal management system has also been overhauled with a new battery conditioning setup, reducing warm-up time and ensuring consistent performance over repeated laps.
Design also plays a key role. A swan-neck rear wing and wider fenders serve a functional aerodynamic purpose, increasing high-speed stability while giving the car an aggressive look. A new “Performance Blue Pearl” colour debuts with this model as well.
Inside, Hyundai’s development team has crafted a performance-focused cabin full of advanced tech. A suite of driving tools, including N Track Manager and N Drift Optimiser lets drivers fine-tune the car’s responses. N Active Sound+ adds artificial soundtrack options to match the driving mood, ranging from motorsport-inspired tones to futuristic audio profiles. Meanwhile, the N e-Shift feature simulates traditional gear changes like in the 5 N.
The IONIQ 6 N’s debut at Goodwood forms part of Hyundai’s broader celebration of electrified performance. Alongside the launch, visitors to the Hyundai N stand can experience the full N lineup, including the IONIQ 5 N, the track-prepped TA Spec variant, and a range of rally-bred showstoppers. The highlight of the event, dubbed the N Moment, will feature a dramatic hillclimb run showcasing every model in the N stable, with the IONIQ 6 N front and centre.
